Our school has sent some amazing junior chefs out into industry that have progressed to the top of the chefing ladder both here and overseas. One thing they all had in common was the right attitude and the desire to succeed in this challenging industry.

The School only enrolls a select number of students each year and our aim is to turn out top quality junior chefs for Industry. Our School motto is ‘Attitude is Everything’ and this is the work ethos that we instill in our students which is one of the reasons why our students are highly sought after by top chefs in Industry.

Our teaching relies on practical methods where theory is covered during the practical lesson. Students get to cook every recipe they are given and there are no group demonstrations. Chefing is very much a practical profession and watching demos is not the right way to learn how to become a chef.

The 1000 Hills Chefs School teaches the internationally recognized City & Guilds chefing courses. First year students study both the food preparation and culinary art course and the pastry course in the first year. First year students will graduate with a City & Guilds diploma in food preparation and culinary arts and a City & Guilds diploma in pastry. Students pursuing the second year course will study the City & Guilds advanced diploma in pastry. We are a recognized training provider with the South African Chefs Association.
